Involved in Tasks 5.2.2 and 5.3.2 of the PNRR-AGRITECH project “Sustainable productivity and mitigation of environmental impact in livestock systems”, we work on testing resistance, resilience and sustainability traits of Holstein cows. We collect longitudinal phenotypic data from farms engaged in the project, two of them equipped with automatic milking systems and one envisaged to install automatic sensors, such as temperatures’ indicators and 3D video cameras. The amount of data collected will be associated with the genomic variability of individuals within the herds to map the genomic basis of efficiency, resilience and sustainability traits through association studies (GWAS) and genomic analyses as QTL and identification of genomic regions under selection. Genomic variability is analysed from genotypic data of individuals obtained with SNP chips.
