Matteo Dell’Anno

Matteo holds a PhD in Veterinary and Animal Science with certification of Doctor Europaeus obtained at the University of Milan.
His expertise focuses on innovative strategies in animal nutrition for enhancing animal health, performance and decreasing environmental impact and antibiotic use to tackle the raising problem of antimicrobial resistance.
The research interest also involves the valorisation of agro-chain by-products for animal nutrition for increasing the sustainability and circularity of the zootechnical sector.
During his carrier, he evaluated different functional feed ingredients and additives alternatives to antibiotics for animal nutrition.
The research field covered the assessment of novel functional feed additives and functional compounds through in vitro, in vivo and ex vivo studies in piglets and calves, assessing their bioactivities and impact on health, performance, and gut microbiota modulation.
The main interest is to contribute to the development of innovative dietary strategies to optimize animal performance, reduce emissions and antibiotics use in the livestock sector.
