Metaproteomics: what are gut microbes Really doing there
The PhD school in Veterinary and Animal Sciences is pleased to invite you to the VAS Talk which will be delivered by Dr. Alessandro Tanca, Microbiology and Virology Unit University Hospital, Sassari, Italy titled “Metaproteomics: what are gut microbes Really doing there” covering the topics of “Methodological approaches to metaproteomics” and “Potential and applications of gut metaproteomics in health and disease”.
After graduating in Molecular Biotechnology and obtaining a Ph.D. in Biomolecular Sciences and Biotechnology at the University of Sassari (Italy), Dr. Tanca continued his postdoctoral research at Porto Conte Ricerche (Alghero, Italy) developing experimental and data analysis approaches for the “omic” characterization of microbial communities, with a focus on gut metaproteomics. From 2019 to 2023, he was a research assistant professor at the Department of Biomedical Sciences of the University of Sassari, working on the development of sample preparation and bioinformatics methods for gut metaproteomics and their application to human health and disease. He is currently a senior researcher at the Unit of Microbiology and Virology of the University Hospital of Sassari, where he is mainly involved in the characterization of the gut microbiota in human populations. He has co-authored more than 50 research articles in international peer-reviewed journals, is a founding member of the Metaproteomics Initiative and a member of the Italian Society of Microbiology.
The talk will be held on Thursday, 4th July 2024 at 14:00 pm CET in Room L02, Department of Veterinary medicine and Animal Sciences, University of Milan, Lodi Campus, via dell’Università 6, Lodi
