The Animal Microbiome: Basic Concepts for Veterinary Medicine and Animal Productions

Understand basic concepts and terminology on the animal microbiome. Provide an overview of the methods available for defining composition and functions. Summarize the current knowledge about the relationships of the microbiota with the host, and on the influence of breed or environmental factors. Understand how the microbiota impact animal health and the development of immunity. Summarize the current knowledge on the diet/gut microbiota relationships, and on how this is reflected on animal productions. Develop the expertise and tools for critically reading and understanding scientific papers.
