Role of inflammation and immune response in canine and feline diseases
Veterinary medicine requires, especially nowadays, to indentify novel biomarkers of inflammation and immunity in biological fluids of dogs and cats both with primary inflammatory diseases or secondary to neoplastic, metabolic or degenerative.
The project aims to highlight the diagnostic and/or prognostic role of non-invasive tools with standard or innovative techniques, with a preliminary analytic validation in case of new procedures.
By doing this, the project is going to consider the relationship between inflammation and oxidative stress, assessing the possible correlation between inflammatory and oxidative biomarkers.
Oxidative stress can trigger the inflammatory response, which, in turn, produces more free radicals that can lead to further oxidative stress, creating a cycle.
